Maths Incursions
Engaging, Hands-On Maths Workshops for Stage 4 & 5
At Maths in Hands, our incursions are designed to spark curiosity, deepen mathematical understanding, and build essential problem-solving skills. Aligned with the NSW curriculum and NAPLAN objectives, these sessions offer a fun, hands-on alternative to traditional classroom lessons—bringing real-world relevance and excitement to maths.
What We Offer
We bring the full experience directly to your school, with two flexible options to suit your schedule and group size:
- Full day incursion
- Half day incursions (Two sessions)
- Both options feature our signature workshop model, focused on interactive learning, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Full Day Incursion
Ideal for up to 75 students, this format runs three interactive sessions over the course of a full school day. It allows students to dive deep into a variety of mathematical challenges across multiple strands.
Three Dynamic Sessions:
Session 1: Ladders
Students work in pairs to solve structured challenges across:
- Number and algebra
- Measurement
- Statistics and probability
Session 2: Shuttle
In teams of 3–4, students engage in retrograde analysis challenges that build
- Logical reasoning
- Strategic thinking
Session 3: Stations
Students rotate freely between multiple stations, working in small groups to explore diverse problem-solving activities at their own pace.

Half Day Incursions (Two Sessions):
Perfect for schools looking to engage larger cohorts in a shorter time.
Run over two sessions, with one group attending in the morning and the second in the afternoon.

- Condensed format with fewer challenges
- Flexible grouping by ability or mixed levels
